Quarto. 195mm x 155mm [130], 662pp wanting only the portrait. Title page browned at head, cropped tight at the base. Textually very good, paper flaw Mm2, mild marginal stains towards the end. Original contemporary leather, split on the spine.

A very scarce book which has not appeared at auction since 1931.

John Bastwick was an English controversialist and Puritan during the era of the Civil War. He was punished for his sedition which involved having his ears cut off and his nose slit and SS branded on his cheeks.
