Gerhardi Ianseriyi Wirtens: pastor: Stelens: quiorid: Valens: Belonged to the theologian Gerhard Jansenius of St Vitus monastery, a Benedictine monastery in Gladbach, Germany. Leather book label to ffep ‘Ex Musaeo Hans Furstenberg’  Furstenberg 91890-1982) was a renowned scholar and book collector with a vast collection.

Gorgeous contemporary panelled blind stamped binding, dated 1556 (12 years after the printing of the book); with miniature figure portraits of St Catherine, Mary, St Bernard and others.

This was the first appearance of the ‘grecs du roi’ the Greek font designed by Claude Garamond.
