A C17th carved oak burr panel showing the story from Genesis 24 of Rebekah and Eliezer at the well. Carved in the solid from a piece of burr oak 35mm thick, Eliezer seated beneath a tree and pointing. The title ‘Give me to Drink’ scratch-carved into the bottom border. 32cm wide x 3.5 cm deep x 30cm high. Some inert worm to rear. Screws in rear for mounting.
Genesis 24 tells the story of Abraham sending out his servant to find a wife for his son, Isaac, after the death of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. The servant, Eliezer, then meets Rebekah at the well and she offers him water to drink and water for his camels.
