Leaf from a Breviary, with a large and 2 finely illuminated initials, manuscript in Latin on vellum.
France, perhaps south, mid-Fifteenth century c.1450
In single column of 17 lines in two sizes of late gothic bookhand, profusely gilt initials, one on each side of the leaf, in Italian style but with distinctively northern ‘spiky’ hairline foliage extending into margins, thus most probably from an area where two traditions might have interacted (such as southern France).
135mm x 100mm.
With Bruce Ferrini’s stock numbers in pencil on reverse.
